Introduction to proper sewing techniques

Course Description
Students are introduced to proper sewing techniques such as how to sew and press a seam, how to choose the right needle, thread and presser foot for a project, how to sew darts, insert slot and invisible zippers, edge stitching, top stitching and understitching, how to sew a point and a corner, a flat-felled and French seam, creating buttonholes and more. In addition to building a solid foundation for your sewing practice, students gain a better understanding of their sewing machine. Expect about three hours of homework between classes. Prerequisite: Students should have access to a sewing machine and should be able to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and sew a simple straight stitch. Class meets once a week for eight weeks. Cost: $299 Class size: 12-15 students All classes are online through Zoom. Class recordings are available to students for eight weeks after the session ends. Refund Policy: Full refund if cancellation request is received seven days or more before the start date of the class. No refunds within seven days of the start date.
