WINTER 2025: Pattern Drafting 1

Course Description

The first in a series of pattern drafting classes focuses on students becoming proficient in the language and tools of patternmaking through drafting and sewing skirts. In the first half of the class, students draft, sew and fit a skirt sloper for themselves, a friend or a dress form. The second half is spent using the sloper to draft flare skirts, pleated skirts, and other skirt styles. Both industry standards and personal sewing standards are addressed. Expect three hours of homework between classes. Required text: Building Patterns, 2nd Edition (e-book), by Suzy Furrer Prerequisite: none Class meets once a week for eight weeks. Cost: $299 Class size: 12-15 students All classes are online through Zoom. Class recordings are available to students for eight weeks after the session ends. Refund Policy: Full refund if cancellation request is received seven days or more before the start date of the class. No refunds within seven days of the start date.
